A very large and impressive English Victorian pine school cupboard of exceptional scale, offering four panelled doors and a generous shelved interior.
Constructed in solid pine throughout, the cupboard features two pairs of panelled doors, each pair opening to reveal a well-proportioned interior fitted with two shelves, providing outstanding storage capacity throughout. The substantial plinth base, bold cornice moulding and canted corner details all speak to its institutional origins, built to last and built to impress. The old brass knobs and original iron shelf catches are a lovely original detail. The back is formed from wide vertical boards.
Originally made for a Victorian school in Cambridge, it would now make a superb sideboard, kitchen dresser base, media unit, or statement hallway cupboard.
The pine has mellowed beautifully with age and displays excellent colour and character throughout. As with all genuine antique pine, it carries the honest marks of a long working life, including bumps, scrapes, marks, minor old repairs, all of which we think only add to the charm and authenticity of the piece.
