A good, honest late Victorian pine chest of drawers, circa 1890. Two over two drawer configuration with later but authentic turned wooden knobs, sitting on a plinth base with small square feet.
Cleaned, stripped and waxed by us — solid, sound, and ready for the home. The drawers run smoothly and are solid. At some point a later pine board was let into the back to address shrinkage, a sympathetic and practical repair that does its job well and is entirely in keeping with the honest working life of a piece like this.
Plenty of character and charm, but a rather clean surface and a superb mellow colour throughout.
