Antique Victorian Pine Chest of Drawers with Small Cupboard
A charming late 19th century Victorian pine chest of drawers with a small cupboard. Combining two small drawers and one long drawer with a ventilated cupboard to the left-hand side, the drilled door is a lovely detail, most likely designed originally for storing food, keeping air circulating while keeping contents out of sight. The cupboard interior retains old yellow paint, a nice touch of colour inside.
Standing on shaped bracket feet, the piece has a good, honest presence. The pine has a warm, weathered patina throughout, with knots, marks, historic woodworm and grain typical of the period, all adding to its character. The top is made up of generous boards, showing lovely grain and natural movement with age.
We've carried out repairs where needed, stripped back the piece, and given it a fresh wax finish, so the drawers and cupboard door all open and close smoothly, and the whole thing is structurally sound and ready to use.
A useful and characterful piece, equally at home in a kitchen, hallway, or utility space.
Dimensions: 74cm tall x 106cm wide x 42cm deep
Nationwide Delivery:
Available throughout England. For Scotland and Wales, please contact us with your postcode prior to purchasing for a delivery quote. Delivery typically takes 1-2 weeks to arrange.
Condition:
As with all antique and vintage furniture, each piece carries the marks of its age and use, which form part of its character and appeal. Any significant wear or restoration work will be clearly noted in the description.
Where evidence of historic woodworm is present, it will have been fully treated as a precaution. Any splits or repairs are carefully stabilised while preserving the authenticity of the piece, rather than disguising its history.
Every item is thoroughly cleaned and prepared before sale. Drawers are adjusted where necessary to ensure they run as smoothly as possible, and the timber is cleaned, treated and waxed to enhance its appearance and minimise any old furniture odours often associated with antique pieces.
