The pine has mellowed to a beautiful warm golden colour, rich, even and deeply appealing, with a surface that tells its own story through plenty of old old repairs, marks and the natural patina of age.
Arranged in the classic 2-over-3 configuration and fitted with chunky white ceramic knobs, a later addition but entirely correct for the period and perfectly in keeping with the piece. The top shows a natural split and old crack repairs, entirely sympathetic and adding to the rustic character rather than detracting from it. The carcass is solid and honest throughout, all drawers run smoothly on its recesses. It sits on its original plinth base and retains its original castors, worn and no longer functional, but a lovely and authentic period detail that speaks to the age and history of the piece
