Antique Victorian Pine Chest of Drawers Original Scumble Paint
An original and charming 19th-century Victorian pine chest of drawers, retaining its original faux oak scumble paint throughout. The piece is of classic two-over-three drawer configuration and is fitted with its original chunky white porcelain knobs.
There is plenty of age-related wear to the painted finish, which only enhances its character, with the faux oak scumble decoration being particularly well executed by the maker. Overall condition is good, with minor historic woodworm. The drawers run well on their original runners, and the piece is of solid, good-quality construction. The chest is of “cottage split” construction, designed to separate into two sections for ease of movement, particularly suited to narrow staircases. A nice period detail.
Recently cleared from a home in Norfolk where it had lived its entire life. A highly authentic and characterful example of period furniture.
Dimensions: 93cm tall x 94cm wide x 47cm deep
