A superb and scarce, 19th century Victorian pine chest of drawers in its original scumble paint, appearing to simulate satin birch. Two short drawers sit above three long graduated drawers, all retaining their original fruitwood turned wood knobs.
It stands on turned bun feet, one to the rear right charmingly repaired at some point in its life, a small and honest addition to its story. The scumble decoration shows the wonderful painted graining technique so typical of the period, with a warm, faded palette and plenty of movement across the drawer fronts.
In superb original condition and largely untouched, with honest surface wear, scuffs, and marks throughout consistent with its age, all part of its charm. All solid and the drawers run smoothly.
